Hong Kong jewellery label MIDNIGHTFACTORY was featured by Hypebeast following its arrival on global fashion retailer HBX, marking another step in the brand’s growing presence across fashion, music and contemporary culture.
Published in July 2024, the Hypebeast feature introduced MIDNIGHTFACTORY as an emerging jewellery brand from Hong Kong, highlighting its distinctive balance of delicate details and unconventional heavy-duty influences.
The feature also explored the storytelling behind the brand, its growing following among creatives and stylists, and a selection of MIDNIGHTFACTORY jewellery available through HBX.
From Hong Kong to HBX
Founded in Hong Kong in 2021 by designer Auston Tse, MIDNIGHTFACTORY creates jewellery that combines visual storytelling with objects designed to become part of everyday life.
Hypebeast highlighted the brand’s arrival on HBX, bringing a selection of MIDNIGHTFACTORY earrings, necklaces and rings to the fashion retailer’s audience.
The launch represented a new retail chapter for the independent Hong Kong jewellery label and placed MIDNIGHTFACTORY alongside an international selection of contemporary fashion and design brands carried by HBX.
Heavy-Duty Meets Delicate
Hypebeast described MIDNIGHTFACTORY through the contrast at the centre of its aesthetic: delicate appeal combined with eccentric, heavy-duty inspirations.
Industrial forms, hardware references, pearls and polished jewellery details often coexist within the same MIDNIGHTFACTORY universe.
Rather than treating toughness and vulnerability as opposites, the brand frequently allows both to appear within a single piece.
This tension has become part of MIDNIGHTFACTORY’s visual language, creating jewellery that can feel romantic and fragile while retaining a harder, more industrial edge.
Jewellery Built Around Storytelling
Storytelling has remained central to MIDNIGHTFACTORY since its early collections.
At the time of the Hypebeast feature, the brand described this approach through its “Memories of Jewelries” ethos: the idea that jewellery can become connected to emotions, experiences and the memories accumulated by the person wearing it.
For MIDNIGHTFACTORY, the meaning of a piece does not end when the design is completed.
Over time, jewellery can become attached to a person, a relationship, a period of life or something the wearer chooses to remember.
Worn Across Fashion and Music
Hypebeast also highlighted MIDNIGHTFACTORY’s growing visibility among creatives, stylists and musicians.
The feature noted that the brand had been worn by emerging artists in Hong Kong as well as established pop artists across Asia, including Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon.
Celebrity and editorial styling have continued to form part of MIDNIGHTFACTORY’s relationship with fashion and music, allowing the jewellery to move between personal styling, performance and visual culture.
The MIDNIGHTFACTORY Selection on HBX
The HBX selection featured earrings, necklaces and rings from MIDNIGHTFACTORY, including several recognisable designs from the brand’s earlier collections.
Hypebeast highlighted pieces including the Cocktail Safety-Pin Earrings, Micro-SD White Freshwater Pearls Necklace and Hex-Nut Hear Eternity Ring Set.
Together, the selection reflected the different sides of MIDNIGHTFACTORY’s design language, moving between playful colour, pearls, industrial hardware and sculptural metal forms.
