MIDNIGHTFACTORY Featured by Vogue Hong Kong for FASHIONALLY SS22

MIDNIGHTFACTORY was featured by Vogue Hong Kong as a Hong Kong jewellery label participating in FASHIONALLY’s SS22 presentation, marking one of the brand’s earliest fashion features following its transition into jewellery.

Published in September 2021, the Vogue Hong Kong feature introduced 16 Hong Kong fashion brands presented by FASHIONALLY through runway and digital film formats for Spring/Summer 2022.

MIDNIGHTFACTORY appeared in the fashion film “Catch Me if You Can”, alongside four other Hong Kong brands, presenting the label’s first jewellery collection.

The Beginning of MIDNIGHTFACTORY Jewellery

Vogue Hong Kong highlighted MIDNIGHTFACTORY’s first collection for its focus on pearls and a distinctive burnt treatment designed to express the beauty of imperfection shaped by experience.

The concept became an early expression of a design language that would continue to develop throughout MIDNIGHTFACTORY: taking familiar objects and materials, altering their expected appearance, and using jewellery to hold stories of memory, vulnerability and change.

Burnt pearls became one of the defining elements of this early chapter, contrasting the traditional associations of pearls with deliberately imperfect surfaces and a darker visual language.

FASHIONALLY SS22: “Catch Me if You Can”

FASHIONALLY presented MIDNIGHTFACTORY alongside YMDH, SFZ & Sons, Redemptive and Wilsonkaki in “Catch Me if You Can,” a fashion film released as part of its SS22 programme.

The wider FASHIONALLY presentation brought together 16 Hong Kong fashion brands across physical runway and digital formats, showcasing different perspectives within the city’s emerging design scene.

The project was initiated by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council as a platform for presenting the work of local designers through different creative formats.

From Burnt Pearls to a Hong Kong Jewellery Label

The 2021 feature captures an early moment in MIDNIGHTFACTORY’s development as a jewellery label.

Since then, the brand’s design language has expanded from the emotional treatment of pearls into 925 sterling silver, crosses, hardware, industrial objects and symbolic forms, while continuing to explore the tension between fragility and strength.

Today, MIDNIGHTFACTORY works primarily with 925 sterling silver, creating genderless contemporary jewellery through a dark romantic perspective.

In the original 2021 Vogue Hong Kong feature, MIDNIGHTFACTORY was referred to as “Midnight Factory.”
